Lisa Pleyer is a Professor and Head of Workgroup at the Department of Internal Medicine III - Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology, Hemostaseology, Rheumatology, Infectiology and Oncologic Center at the University of Salzburg. Her research focuses on blood cancers, myeloid disorders, and clinical translational oncology. She leads the Hematology division within the Medical Faculty and actively collaborates with international networks like the EBMT.
Her research interests include genomic profiling of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), mechanisms of resistance in leukemia therapies, and prognostic modeling in hematologic malignancies. She has pioneered studies on novel therapeutic targets in AML and CLL, including MTOR and NLRP3 pathways.
Prof. Pleyer serves as Editor-in-Chief for SpringerWienNewYork publications and has spearheaded collaborative projects through the Cancer Cluster Salzburg. Her work integrates clinical trials with machine learning approaches, as seen in her 2023 study using deep neural networks to refine azacitidine treatment outcomes.
