Lisa O’Brien

Lisa O’Brien is an Associate Professor in the School of Education and Social Policy at Merrimack College. She holds a Ed.D. from Boston University, M.Ed. from the University of New Hampshire, and B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology from Rowan University. Her research focuses on reducing educational inequities through racial literacy development and supports teachers in fostering social justice in early childhood and elementary education.

Dr. O’Brien’s work emphasizes disciplinary literacy for young learners, particularly emergent bilingual children, and teacher professional development. She has presented at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Her recent studies explore integrating diverse voices in science education and interdisciplinary learning strategies.
