Lisa Montes

Lisa Montes is an Adjunct Professor at Wayne State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She currently teaches Spanish 1020 at the university level and has been an educator for over 19 years, including five years at Anderson Middle School in Berkley and 14 years in Southwest Detroit focusing on Bilingual Education. She holds a BA in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Michigan (1998), an MA in Spanish (2005), and a PhD in Modern Languages with a specialization in Literary Criticism (2015), both from Wayne State.

Her research expertise centers on 20th-century Peninsular Literature, particularly the works of Federico Garcia Lorca. Beyond academia, she co-directs a dance company specializing in Spanish classical, regional, and flamenco performances, and practices yoga.
