Lisa M. Bebell, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as Director of the Harvard University Center for AIDS Research (HU CFAR) Program in Placental & HIV. She is also a member of the HU CFAR Executive Committee.
Her research focuses on the intersection of HIV infection and placental biology, exploring how the virus affects maternal–fetal health and how placental factors influence HIV pathogenesis. She is particularly interested in translational studies that bridge basic placental research with clinical outcomes in pregnant women living with HIV.
Dr. Bebell is actively engaged in global health initiatives, leveraging her expertise to improve prevention and treatment strategies for HIV-positive mothers and their infants. Through the HU CFAR Program in Placental & HIV, she fosters collaborative, multidisciplinary investigations that aim to reduce vertical transmission and optimize maternal health worldwide.
