Lisa Lehner is a Researcher at the University of Vienna's Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology. She leads projects addressing health inequalities, antibiotic resistance, and marginalized populations' healthcare access. Her work integrates medical anthropology, science & technology studies, and public health.
Education: She holds a PhD in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University (minor in Medical Anthropology) and degrees in Sociology, Political Science, and Public Health. Past roles include Health Programs Director at AmberMed NGO.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on systemic inequities in healthcare, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and participatory health interventions. She emphasizes translating academic insights into advocacy, particularly for homeless populations and cancer patients experiencing homelessness. Recent projects include HPV surveillance (HPVienna) and deprescribing strategies for benzodiazepines/antibiotics.
Grants & Collaborations: Co-PI on the WWTF-funded 'Less is More' project (Austria). Previously collaborated on EU Horizon 2020 projects (SoNAR-Global, CANCERLESS). Affiliated with the Community Health Lab, emphasizing transdisciplinary approaches.
Labs/Teams: Core member of the Community Health Lab, coordinating social science aspects of HPV transmission and prevention in vulnerable communities. Active in transdisciplinary partnerships involving public health, genomics, and agent-based modeling.
