Lisa Kelly is Professor of Ecology and Biology Web Manager at UNC Pembroke's Department of Biology. She directs the UNCP Herbarium (PEMB) and researches invasive fire ant ecology in protected wetlands.
Research examines:
- Solenopsis invicta impacts on native ant communities
- Molecular analysis of fire ant diets and mutualisms
- Fire ant colony social forms in longleaf pine ecosystems
- Biodiversity conservation in southeastern wetlands
Her service-learning courses partner with the Lumbee Tribe on conservation initiatives. Current projects investigate honeydew-mediated mutualisms using molecular techniques and document insect diversity in protected savannas.
