Lisa Jane Huddlestone is a Research Fellow at the University of York within the Hull York Medical School, affiliated with the Mental Health and Addiction Research Group (MHARG). She currently holds an NIHR Development and Skills Enhancement Award to explore the use of immersive technologies for mental health promotion.
- Qualifications: PhD in Epidemiology & Public Health (University of Nottingham), MA in Philosophy, BSc (Hons) in Psychology & Criminology.
Research Interests: Lisa focuses on improving physical and mental health for disadvantaged populations, including care-experienced individuals and those with mental illness. Her work integrates digital technologies (e.g., extended reality) with intervention development and evaluation, emphasizing qualitative and mixed-methods evidence synthesis.
Publications highlight her expertise in smoking cessation for mental health patients, digital intervention implementation, and healthcare innovation in primary care settings like diabetes management.

Collaborations include partnerships with the Institute of Mental Health Research (IMRY), York Trials Unit (YTU), MindTech (NIHR HealthTech Research Centre), and the University of Nottingham’s Virtual and Immersive Production Studio. She previously managed the NIHR-funded SCEPTRE programme (2020–2024) and contributed to diabetes self-management research at the University of Leicester.
