Lisa Grove

Lisa Grove serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Oboe in the Music department at Wittenberg University, a position she has held since 2006. She is principal oboist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Springfield Symphony Woodwind Quintet, Columbus Symphony, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Ohio Valley Symphony, and Richmond Symphony. Her performance career includes collaborations with Andrea Bocelli, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Johnny Mathis, and The Who.

Her academic credentials include:

• Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education from The Ohio State University (magna cum laude), studying under Robert Sorton
• Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University, studying under Cynthia DeAlmeida, with acceptance into Pi Kappa Lambda honorary society

Grove specializes in oboe performance and chamber music, with significant expertise in woodwind pedagogy. Her teaching encompasses oboe instruction and the Woodwind Instruments class for music education students. Performance highlights include Jean Françaix’s ‘L’Horloge de flore’ and J.S. Bach’s ‘Concerto for Violin and Oboe’ as soloist with the Springfield Symphony, plus appearances at Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Symphony Hall during graduate studies.

Her primary recognition is membership in Pi Kappa Lambda, honoring musical and academic achievement.

In academic service, Grove teaches applied oboe, conducts the Woodwind Instruments course, and delivers masterclasses independently and with Wittenberg colleagues. She actively performs with the Wittenberg Woodwind Quintet and regional orchestras while maintaining professional affiliations across Ohio and neighboring states.
