Lisa E. Wright is a Lecturer in the University Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University. Her work focuses on Black maternal health, Black midwifery, and antiracist pedagogy. She is also a creative nonfiction writer and Black feminist scholar.
- B.A. in English from Coppin State University
- M.A. in African and African American Studies from The Ohio State University
- Ph.D. in English (Creative Writing Nonfiction and Black Feminist Literature) from Oklahoma State University
Her research examines the delegitimation of Black midwives, the creation of safe birthing spaces outside medical institutions, and intersections of faith and religious identities in writing pedagogy. Wright co-founded the Talking Justice Project, an initiative for antiracist training in writing centers.
