About
Dr. Lisa Dive is a Senior Lecturer in Genetic Counselling at the University of Technology Sydney's Graduate School of Health, where she teaches in the Master of Genetic Counselling program. Her research focuses on ethical considerations in genetics and genomics, particularly in reproductive health, public health, and clinical care intersections. Prior to joining UTS, she contributed to Mackenzie's Mission as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioethics at the University of Sydney, investigating large-scale reproductive genetic carrier screening across Australia.
Dr. Dive holds an MPhil in Medicine (Bioethics) and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sydney. Her research applies philosophical frameworks to resolve practical ethical challenges in healthcare contexts, specializing in genetic technologies and their societal implications. She has extensive experience developing ethical guidelines for clinical genomics and carrier screening programs.
Her research elucidates normative concepts in bioethics through empirical studies of reproductive decision-making and screening implementation. Recent work examines severity assessment frameworks in carrier screening programs and ethical preparedness in genomic laboratories. Publications demonstrate consistent focus on justice considerations in information disclosure, stakeholder engagement models, and policy development for emerging genetic technologies.
