Lisa Dion is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Vermont (UVM), affiliated with the College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, where she also served as a graduate student lecturer. Her expertise spans programming languages (C++, Python, Java), Git, and computational thinking education.
She has conducted research at Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs and General Dynamics Electric Boat, and actively promotes STEM education through roles like founder of UVM's Girls Who Code club and faculty advisor to SWiCS (Society of Women in Computer Science). She has pioneered UVM's Computer Science Education program and teaches courses such as Data Structures & Algorithms, Advanced Programming, and Senior Seminar.
Lisa has been recognized for her teaching excellence with awards including the Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award (2023), Vermont Athena Leadership Award (2020), and CEMS Innovation in Teaching Award (2019).
