Lisa Cameron

Lisa Cameron is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pathology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University. Her research focuses on T cell biology and the role of genetic variation in inflammatory diseases, particularly asthma. She holds a PhD from McGill University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Cameron's work investigates how naturally occurring genetic variants influence immune pathways, with a focus on CRTh2 (a prostaglandin D2 receptor) and its association with asthma severity. Her research integrates cellular immunology, functional genomics, and translational studies involving patient recruitment and clinical data analysis. Techniques used include T cell isolation, flow cytometry, molecular cloning, and microarray analyses.

Key areas of study include the interplay between CRTh2 variants, environmental factors (e.g., diet, viral infections), and disease susceptibility. She explores mechanisms behind glucocorticoid resistance in asthma and the role of sex-specific hormonal influences (estrogen, progesterone) in Th2 cell activity. Her lab also examines inflammatory markers during asthma exacerbations and the impact of dietary factors on immune responses.
