Lisa Becking

Lisa Becking is an Associate Professor in Aquaculture and Fisheries at Wageningen University & Research. She specializes in marine biodiversity, coral reef ecology, and ecosystem management. Her research focuses on Indonesia and the Caribbean, addressing challenges such as climate change impacts, marine protected areas (MPAs), and genetic variability in marine species.

Her work integrates ecological studies with socio-ecological approaches, particularly in the Dutch Caribbean. Recent projects include evaluating stressors in MPA management plans and investigating microbial communities in artificial beaches. Becking actively promotes science communication through lectures and media contributions, emphasizing the urgency of marine conservation.

Becking supervises multiple PhD candidates, including projects on coral reef resilience, turtle population dynamics, and eutrophication effects in MPAs. She collaborates internationally, contributing to datasets on seagrass ecosystems, sponge biodiversity, and green turtle genetics.
