Dr. Lisa Baumann is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Science, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with a dual affiliation in the Department of Environmental Health & Toxicology and AIMMS (Amsterdam Institute for Molecular and Life Sciences). She serves as an independent scientific expert for the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in Parma, Italy (2020–2026). Her research focuses on ecotoxicology, particularly endocrine disruption in zebrafish, to study organ development and the impacts of environmental pollutants on wildlife.
Her research interests include zebrafish biology, developmental and neurotoxicity, endocrinology, and the application of OECD guidelines. She collaborates internationally and contributes to projects like the integrated fish endocrine disruptor test (iFEDT). She teaches courses such as Human and Environmental Toxicology and Chemical Toxicology.
Her recent work emphasizes thyroid hormone disruption in fish models, immunotoxicity, and the development of transgenic models to study endocrine pathways. She actively participates in consultancy for OECD projects and academic presentations on fish model species for endocrine disruption assessment.
