Lisa Aubrey

Lisa Aubrey is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University, holding joint expertise in African/African American Studies and Political Science. She earned her PhD from Ohio State University and conducts community-engaged research connecting African diaspora communities to heritage sites.

Her scholarship focuses on:

• Political economy of development in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Gender politics and women's rights
• Historical slave trade sites in West Africa
• Diaspora reconnection initiatives

She directs projects documenting slave trade history in Cameroon and leads ASU's Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, bringing African students to ASU.
