Lisa-Anne Foster

Lisa-Anne Foster is an instructor at Trinity College, actively engaged in the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program. She served as Primary and Additional Instructor for Bio 175: Genome Analysis during Spring 2015, teaching an in silico (bioinformatics) course focused on phage genomics using Mycobacterium smegmatis as the host bacterium.

Her research and teaching emphasize genomic analysis and bioinformatics within microbial systems, particularly phage biology. The SEA-PHAGES program immerses students in real-world genomic research, from phage isolation to computational genome annotation, fostering hands-on scientific discovery at the undergraduate level.

Dr. Foster instructed 10 freshman students in this course, meeting twice weekly for 3 total hours. Her work supports the program's mission to integrate authentic research experiences into early-stage science education, training students in cutting-edge genomic techniques and evolutionary analysis.
