About
Dr. Liron David is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on key proteins within the immune system that regulate inflammatory processes, which, when dysregulated, can contribute to cancer and other diseases. By integrating structural biology, biochemistry, and cell biology, he aims to uncover the mechanisms of these proteins and pathways to enable the development of targeted therapies.
Education:
- B.Sc. with honors in Molecular Biochemistry, Technion
- M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry, Technion (direct track)
- Postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA
Dr. David's lab investigates the hierarchy of high-order assembly formation—a concept where upstream molecules trigger downstream assembly, leading to tightly regulated cellular responses in immunity. This research has implications for understanding immune regulation and developing strategies to combat malignancies. He joined Ben-Gurion University for its supportive academic environment and robust research infrastructure.
A passionate scientist and art enthusiast, Dr. David cites his mother as his lifelong mentor. His personal preferences include Pilates over spinning, train travel for commuting between Haifa and Beer Sheva, and a fondness for the sea and beach walks. He supports Maccabi Haifa in soccer and Maccabi Tel Aviv in basketball, and aspires to adopt a dog in the future.
