Lionel Quille is a researcher affiliated with the Centre de Recherches Historiques (CRH), a joint research unit of École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and CNRS. He is associated with the Geography and History of Territories, Environment, Resources and Societies Group (GGH-TERRES).
Dr. Quille completed his doctoral studies at EHESS, defending his thesis titled "Administering the territory in France in a context of state reform and increased European governance. Martinique and Alsace, two pioneering local authorities" on May 25, 2021, under the direction of Marie-Vic Ozouf-Marignier. His academic background includes a Master of Research in Social Sciences - TES with Highest Honors from EHESS (2009), a Master's in Public Affairs from Sciences Po Paris (2008), and a Literary Baccalaureate in Latin with Highest Honors (2003).
Dr. Quille's research focuses on territorial administration, state reform, European governance, and regional identities, with particular interest in the comparative study of Martinique and Alsace as pioneering local authorities in France. His work sits at the intersection of political geography, public administration, and European studies, examining how local authorities navigate state reform and European integration processes.

Dr. Quille has engaged in teaching activities, leading sessions on "Constitution of regional identities: France/Spain" and "Regionalization in France." Beyond academia, he serves as Head of the Children's Commission at Amnesty International France and as a civilian volunteer at the Delegation for Urban Policy and Integration - City of Paris, demonstrating commitment to both scholarly and civic engagement.
As a member of the GGH-TERRES research group at CRH, Dr. Quille contributes to interdisciplinary research on territories, environment, resources, and societies, collaborating with scholars across various fields of historical and social research within the EHESS framework.
