Dr. Linē Aija is an Associate Professor (2004-2005) and currently leads the Molecular Genetics of Cancer research group at the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre since 2003. She has held positions at the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Biology (2005-2008) and Riga Stradins University’s Department of Biology and Medical Genetics (2004-2005). Her research focuses on tumor antigen identification, antitumour immunity mechanisms, and biomarker discovery for cancer diagnosis and therapy response. She investigates aberrant RNA processing in cancer and explores miRNA roles in chemotherapy response and cellular communication.
Key achievements include membership in the Academia Europaea (2012) and multiple national and international awards, including the L’OREAL-UNESCO Women in Science Fellowship (2008) and Royal Society Fellowship (2003). Her work bridges molecular genetics and clinical applications, targeting cancer stem cells and zinc enzyme pathways for therapeutic strategies.
