Lino Merlino

Lino Merlino holds the position of Senior Research and Clinical Fellow at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust since July 2023. His expertise spans renal medicine, nephrology, and cognitive impairment in chronic kidney disease patients. He has contributed to global collaborative research on health outcomes in chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dementia, as well as studies on multiple myeloma’s renal impacts and digital pathology applications.

Notable Contributions: His 2025 global analysis of CKD patients' health outcomes has received media attention. Earlier work validated digital scoring systems for renal pathology and improved glomerular enumeration techniques in biopsies.
