Linnea Mavrides

Linnea Mavrides, Psy.D., is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Long Island University (LIU Post), within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She earned her B.A. from Amherst College and completed her M.S. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at LIU-Post in 2010, where she now contributes significantly to training future psychologists.

Her research and clinical expertise centers on maternal mental health, postpartum mood disorders, trauma, and perinatal psychology. She also specializes in psychodynamic psychotherapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and health psychology, with a strong commitment to social justice, equity, and the qualitative experiences of underrepresented groups such as graduate student parents.

The recent presentations and panel discussions she has led or participated in reflect a consistent scholarly focus on perinatal mental health, parenting challenges in academia, therapeutic integration, and gender-related psychological development. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and community engagement, particularly through film-based discussions on adolescent mental health and identity.
