About
Linn Nilsen Rødevand is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Precision Psychiatry at the University of Oslo. Her work focuses on the genetic and biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders, particularly schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and their comorbidities with cardiovascular disease and metabolic risk factors. She investigates shared genetic architectures, immune dysfunction, and the impact of antipsychotic treatments on patient outcomes.
Research Interests: Her research integrates genomic studies, epidemiology, and clinical psychiatry to explore how genetic factors contribute to mental health conditions and their physical health consequences. Key areas include:
- Genetic overlap between psychiatric and cardiometabolic disorders
- Immune system dysfunction in severe mental disorders
- Sex differences in treatment responses and adverse effects
- Polygenic risk scores and personalized medicine approaches
Key Findings: Recent work has revealed shared genetic mechanisms between opioid use disorder and cognitive traits, identified novel schizophrenia risk loci linked to vitamin D pathways, and highlighted persistent cardiovascular risks in schizophrenia patients despite advancements in bipolar disorder management.
Grants & Projects: Involved in the CoMorMent project focusing on comorbidity mechanisms. Collaborates with international teams on genome-wide association studies and translational psychiatry initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the Centre for Precision Psychiatry, a multidisciplinary group advancing precision medicine in mental health through integrative research approaches.
