Lingsen Meng

Lingsen Meng is a Professor of Geophysics at the Department of Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences (EPSS) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His research spans earthquake physics, seismic and tsunami hazard mitigation, and numerical methods in earth sciences, with a focus on observational and computational approaches.

• Developing advanced source imaging techniques applied to major earthquakes like the 2010 Haiti, 2011 Tohoku-Oki, and 2013 Okhotsk deep-focus events
• Designing next-generation Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) systems using seismic arrays to track rupture dynamics
• Applying numerical methods (e.g., template matching, Time Reversal Imaging, discrete element method) to detect earthquakes and model crustal deformation
