Lindsey Swierk

Lindsey Swierk is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Binghamton University. Her research focuses on the behavior and ecology of reptiles and amphibians in changing environments, emphasizing reproductive ecology, sexual selection, and animal communication. She conducts fieldwork in the northeastern U.S. and Neotropics, with a focus on conservation implications.

Education: PhD from Penn State University, MS and BA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Research interests include behavioral ecology, herpetology, and tropical ecology. Her lab, the Swierk Organismal Ecology Lab, examines traits related to animal communication, sexual selection, and antipredator behaviors in lizards and frogs. Recent work explores adaptations like diving physiology in semi-aquatic anoles and color change mechanisms in lizards, with studies on thermal tolerance, habitat disturbances, and predator-prey interactions.

Publications highlight themes in species' adaptations to environmental stressors, sexual dimorphism, and ecological interactions. She is affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences and located at Science 4 Building, Binghamton University.
