Lindsay Hoffman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Delaware, where she has been since 2007. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Political Science and International Relations and serves as Associate Director of the Center for Political Communication. Her research focuses on political communication, digital civility, and the intersection of technology with civic engagement. Hoffman teaches courses on political communication, media effects, and research methods.
Education: Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University, B.A. from the University of Kentucky.

- Effects of political satire on public knowledge and participation
- Perceptions of public opinion and their influence on behavior
- Civil-discourse interventions in higher education
- Influence of social media on political polarization
- Role of entertainment media (e.g., The Daily Show) in shaping political attitudes
Recent Work: Investigated civil-discourse interventions funded by Heterodox Academy and the John Templeton Foundation. Published widely on media effects, including viral behaviors, news literacy, and political polarization.
