Dr. Linden Bicket is a Lecturer in Literature and Religion at the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh. He previously served as Senior Teaching Fellow and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in the Humanities, also at Edinburgh. His research focuses on modern Scottish literature, particularly Catholic fiction and poetry, and themes of faith and scepticism. He co-edited Scottish Religious Poetry from the Sixth Century to the Present (2024) and leads the School’s student support as Director of Students.
Education: PhD in Scottish Literature (University of Glasgow, 2012), M.Phil, MA. Professional affiliations include the Scottish Network for Religion and Literature, the Scottish Catholic Historical Association, and the Association for Scottish Literary Studies.
Research: Explores spiritual contexts in modern Scottish writing, with emphasis on interwar literary converts and Catholic influences. Recent work examines children’s literature and interdisciplinary connections between religion and literature.
External Roles: Assistant Editor of the Innes Review (Scottish Catholic history journal), Trustee of the Scottish Catholic Historical Association, and member of multiple literary associations. His teaching and supervision focus on Scottish literature and religious themes.
