Linda Robson is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Archaeology, Forensics, Geography and Anthropology at the University of Western Australia (UWA), where she also serves as Head of Department. She holds a PhD in Planning from the University of Pretoria (2011) and advanced degrees in town planning from the University of the Witwatersrand. Her career spans academia, government, and private sectors, with significant experience in urban policy, strategic planning, and research.
Research Interests include Regional Development, Smart Cities, Transport Planning, Spatial Modeling, and Colonial Planning History. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals focused on urban sustainability and equitable growth.
Awarded the RTPI Awards for Research Excellence (2019), Student Choice Awards (2020), and UWA Guild’s Student Choice Awards (2017), her work emphasizes practical applications of spatial modeling and integrated planning strategies. She coordinates courses like Geographical and Planning Methods and teaches topics such as Globalisation, Environment and Development.
Previous roles include External Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria and Strategy Officer at the Royal Town Planning Institute in London. Her consultancy work focused on urban policy, particularly in Johannesburg. She leads the RailSmart Planning initiative, leveraging big data for transport and urban development solutions.
