Linda Deravin is Professor and Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Southern Queensland. As a Wiradjuri woman with 35+ years in nursing, she leads research in First Nations health, nursing workforce development, and rural healthcare systems.
Her research examines cultural safety frameworks, health equity for Indigenous communities, and innovative workforce strategies. Current projects focus on mentoring programs for Aboriginal nurses and improving aged care services through culturally safe practices.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on decolonizing healthcare education and addressing systemic barriers in nursing. Recent work emphasizes culturally-safe mentoring models and educational pathways for First Nations students.
Deravin has received the Aboriginal Researcher of the Year (2022) and First Nations Researcher of the Year (2023) awards. She supervises doctoral candidates in areas including aged care leadership and health system coordination.
