About
Dr. Linda Amos is a researcher at the Institute of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Archaeology within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Kiel University. She leads the PaleoBIRD Project, which applies biomolecular methodologies to archaeological bird remains from the southern Levant to improve identification of remains and assess climate change impacts on avian populations during the Pleistocene. Her work bridges archaeology, ecology, and biomolecular science to reconstruct early human habitats and ecological dynamics.
- Research Focus: Zooarchaeology, human-bird interactions, paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and biomolecular analysis of ancient proteins/isotopes.
- Affiliations: Kiel University; previously at the University of Haifa and Liverpool John Moores University.
Her academic journey includes fieldwork in South Africa, Canada, and Gibraltar, with expertise in Stone Age archaeology and Neanderthal studies. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and has contributed to debates on Pleistocene migration patterns and resource exploitation.
