Lina Akil

Lina Akil is a Teaching Associate at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS), University of Strathclyde. She holds an Honours degree in Chemistry, an MSc in Pharmaceutical Analysis, and a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the same university.

Her research focuses on enhancing solubility of poorly water-soluble drugs via amorphous formulations and chromatographic analysis using HPLC/MS and GC-MS. She leads the Strathclyde/Shimadzu Centre of Excellence laboratory, supporting SIPBS research groups with analytical work.

Recent research outputs include studies on drug-loaded polymeric systems (e.g., daunorubicin for tumour therapy and ciprofloxacin for controlled delivery) using advanced electrospinning and analytical techniques. These works align with expertise in pharmaceutical formulation, analytical chemistry, and biopolymer engineering.
