Lin Zou, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His research focuses on the role of extracellular nucleic acids and Toll-like receptor signaling in critical illnesses such as sepsis and trauma. He completed his MD and PhD at Xiangya School of Medicine (Central South University, China), followed by postdoctoral training and an Instructor position at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
- Education: MD (2002), PhD in Ultrasound Medicine (2010), Central South University
- Postdoc: Massachusetts General Hospital (2008-2012)
- NIH R35-funded Principal Investigator (since 2017)
Research interests include extracellular RNA-mediated innate immunity, sepsis-induced organ injury, and trauma pathophysiology. Key findings include the discovery of miRNA-TLR7 signaling pathways in sepsis and the role of extracellular vesicles in neuroinflammation. His work bridges basic immunology with clinical applications in critical care medicine.
