Liming Zhu is a Research Director at CSIRO’s Data61, Australia’s national science agency, and a conjoint professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He actively contributes to global AI governance initiatives, including OECD.AI’s AI Risks and Accountability, the Responsible AI at Scale think tank at Australia’s National AI Centre, ISO AI standards committees, and Australia’s AI safety standard.

His research focuses on AI engineering, responsible and safe AI, blockchain, quantum software, privacy, and cybersecurity. His publications include the book Responsible AI: Best Practices for Creating Trustworthy AI Systems and the upcoming Engineering AI Systems: DevOps and Architecture Approaches.
He has led foundational work in AI governance, hosted Australia’s Consumer Data Right/Open Banking standards setting, and participates in international standards development.
