Lilly McElroy is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Photography at The University of Kansas' School of Architecture & Design. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Her practice centers lens-based art exploring complex relationships with the American West, eco-anxiety, and feminist gestures through performative acts in natural landscapes.
Education: MFA in Photography from SAIC. Key residencies include The Skowhegan School (2018), MOCA Tucson (2017), and The Charlotte Street Foundation (2015).
Research focuses on:
- Power dynamics in environmental representation
- Feminist critiques of nature
- Ephemeral material practices
- Body as artistic medium
- Subversion of Western landscape tropes
