Lilly Manycolors

Lilly Manycolors (b.1989) is a Lecturer at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) within the Teaching + Learning In Art + Design (TLAD) faculty. They hold a BA from Goddard College and an MA from RISD. Their work bridges art practice, education, and activism.

Research Focus:

• Explores trans-species kinships and planetary futures through decolonial frameworks
• Examines land/animal agency and motherhood as sites of resistance
• Reimagines art as a tool for political liberation and multigenerational engagement

Community Initiatives:

• Founder of AUNTY’S HOUSE (2023), a parent/youth-centered art studio
• Runs annual youth arts programs emphasizing ecological and social justice

Artistic Practice: Uses ritual performances and interdisciplinary methods to address Afro-Indigenous heritage (West African + Choctaw) and Anglo-Australian colonial legacies, focusing on existential reconciliation beyond human supremacy.
