Dr. Lilian Pearce is a Lecturer in Environmental Humanities at La Trobe University's Centre for the Study of the Inland, School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Environmental History from the Australian National University and a BSc (Honours) from the University of Tasmania. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on environmental histories of contaminated sites and policy for healthy Country and communities. She has held roles as a Research Fellow at the University of Tasmania, Urban Ecologist at the City of Melbourne, and Research Consultant at Paper Giant.
Her research integrates environmental history, human geography, and political ecology, emphasizing collaborative approaches to address complex environmental challenges. She has contributed to ARC-funded projects and sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of Humans and Nature Press. Her work has been cited over 230 times, with an h-index of 5 and i10-index of 3.
Key awards include the 2016 Mike Smith Award and the Ken Inglis Postgraduate Prize. She teaches courses like ENH1GEV (Global Environments) and actively engages in public outreach through platforms like The Conversation and The Griffith Review.
