Lilian Chavez

Lilian Chavez is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at The University of Texas at Arlington. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Arizona State University (2016), an MA in Sociology from the University of Houston University Park (2006), and a BS in Electronic Commerce from Our Lady of the Lake University (2000).

Her teaching focuses on introductory sociology courses such as INTRO TO SOCIO, SOCIAL INEQUALITY, and SOCIAL PROBLEMS. Recent courses include INTRO TO POPULAR CULTURE and CONFERENCE COURSE (SOCI 4391).

Her research and teaching interests align with sociological disciplines including social inequality, cultural studies, and societal problem analysis. She has consistently taught courses on these themes across multiple semesters since at least 2023.

Chavez contributes to academic service through roles such as Committee Member for the NTT Promotion Document Revision Committee (2024) and as a Guest Speaker for Student Success & Resident Life (2024).
