Lijun Chen is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He holds a Ph.D. in Control and Dynamical Systems from the California Institute of Technology and previously served as a Research Scientist in Computing + Mathematical Sciences at Caltech. His research focuses on optimization, control, and learning applied to networked systems, autonomous systems, and quantum systems. His work bridges theoretical foundations with practical applications in power grids, distributed energy resources, and data-driven decision-making.
Chen’s academic contributions span interdisciplinary areas including multi-agent systems, reinforcement learning, and distributed control algorithms. His recent publications address challenges in voltage regulation, stochastic bandits, and energy system optimization. He is actively involved in pedagogical innovations, such as standards-based grading in algorithms education.
