Ligang Song is an Associate Professor at the Crawford School of Economics and Government, Australian National University, and serves as Director of the China Economy Program. With academic qualifications including a BA from Renmin University, an MA from International University of Japan, and a PhD from ANU, he focuses on international economics, development economics, and institutional economics related to China.
His research spans the Chinese economy, industrial transformation, and energy policy, particularly examining structural adjustments in China’s steel industry, private enterprise development, and global economic integration. Recent projects include an ARC Linkage study on China’s industrialization and mineral demand, alongside a co-authored monograph on China’s Tests of Limits to Growth (Oxford University Press).
