Lifeng Luo

Lifeng Luo is a Professor in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Spatial Sciences at Michigan State University. He serves as Director of the Environmental Science and Policy Program.

• Educated at Peking University (undergraduate) and Rutgers University (M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences/Climatology).
• Postdoctoral training and research scientist experience at Princeton University (2003–2009) with appointments in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Atmospheric and Oceanic Science.

Research focuses on hydroclimatology, integrating climate science and hydrology to study:

• Human activities (land use, irrigation, water management) on climate and water systems

His work emphasizes improving resource management through climate-hydrology modeling. He leads the Environmental Science and Policy Program at MSU.
