Lies Notebaert is an Associate Professor at the School of Psychological Science, University of Western Australia (UWA). She holds leadership roles including Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Research on Emotion and previously served as Director of the School of Psychological Science Research Committee. Her work focuses on the interplay between cognition, emotion, and behavior in adversity, particularly in contexts like natural disasters, workplace stress, and trauma. She develops computer-based tools to measure and modify maladaptive cognitive processes to enhance mental health and resilience.
Education: Bachelor, Master, and PhD in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology from Ghent University, Belgium. Postdoctoral research at Ghent University before joining UWA in 2011.
