Lidia Rabassa

Lidia Rabassa is a Lecturer at Toulouse - Jean Jaurès University, affiliated with the Cognition, Languages, Language, Ergonomics (CLLE) research center. She is a member of both the Department of Modern Literature, Cinema and Occitan and the CLLE team focusing on Languages and Languages (OCRE). Additionally, she serves as a corresponding member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC).

Her research focuses on linguistic phenomena across multiple Romance languages, with particular emphasis on Catalan linguistics in the Andorran context. Her work spans several key areas including verbal and nominal morphology, phonetics, lexicon, dialectology, geolinguistics, linguistic variation and microvariation, and toponymy. She also teaches French linguistics covering syntax, phonetics/phonology, orthography, world languages, and Romance language dialectology, as well as Occitan linguistics focusing on phonetics and dialectology.

Dr. Rabassa's publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on Andorran Catalan linguistics and toponymy, particularly concerning the Vall d'Ordino region. Her scholarly output includes multiple volumes on Andorran toponymy published with the Comú d'Ordino, studies on Catalan morphology, and analyses of language identity in Andorra. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with practical geographical and sociolinguistic applications, creating a comprehensive documentation of linguistic features in this specific region.

As a corresponding member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, she contributes to the preservation and study of Catalan language and culture. Her research has significantly contributed to the documentation of Andorran Catalan linguistic features, particularly in the domain of toponymy which serves as an important record of historical language use in the region.

Dr. Rabassa has collaborated with other scholars such as Lucia Molinu on grammatical studies, demonstrating her engagement with broader linguistic communities beyond her specialized Andorran Catalan research. Her work appears in both book formats and academic journals, showing versatility in scholarly communication.
