Libor Jan

Professor Jan serves on the Industry Council for History and the Program Board for both bachelor's and master's degree History programs at Masaryk University.

Professor Jan's research focuses on medieval history, with particular expertise in the history of the Bohemian/Czech lands. His specific areas of interest include:

• Medieval history of the Bohemian/Czech lands
• Monastic history and life in medieval monasteries
• History of knightly spiritual orders
• Economic and social history of medieval periods
• History of Moravia in the 13th century
• Political development of Slovakia in the 19th and 20th centuries

Professor Jan has been actively teaching at Masaryk University since at least 1999, offering courses on medieval history, introduction to historical studies, and specialized topics in Czech and Slovak history. His teaching spans bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, including thesis supervision and state examinations.

As a supervisor, Professor Jan guides students through their academic journey from bachelor's through doctoral studies, with particular focus on medieval history topics.
