Lia Witjes-Poole

Lia Witjes-Poole is a Canadian-born dancer, educator, and performer affiliated with the Amsterdam University of the Arts (Academie voor Theater en Dans), Dutch National Ballet Academy, Codarts, and Arts Umbrella in Canada. She began her career at Desroisiers Dance Theatre in Toronto and later performed with Dutch companies like LeineRoebana and Dance ON Ensemble. Her expertise spans classical ballet, contemporary dance, and choreography.

• Education: Formal dance training at Arts Umbrella, Vancouver.

Professional Roles: As an educator, she has taught at multiple prestigious dance institutions. As a performer, she has collaborated with renowned choreographers such as Pieter de Ruiter, Itzik Galili, and Jan Martens, and co-created dance films with Ivar Hagendoorn. Since joining Dance ON Ensemble in 2019, she has performed in works by Lucinda Childs and Rabih Mroué.

Teams & Collaborations: Current affiliations include the Dance ON Ensemble and Dutch National Ballet Academy. She has also worked with LeineRoebana, Omar Rajeh, and Heather Ware.
