Lia Kent is a Senior Fellow and Australian Research Council Future Fellow at the School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), Australian National University. An interdisciplinary scholar in peace and conflict studies, she researches community responses to state violence in Timor-Leste, Aceh, and Sri Lanka.
Her work examines intersections between local social repair practices and state/international peacebuilding through lenses of transitional justice, memory politics, gender justice, and missing persons. Current projects investigate missing persons in Bougainville and family separation in Timor-Leste.
Publications like The Unruly Dead explore spirit beliefs in state formation. Grant-funded projects include heritage reconciliation initiatives and memory activism studies across Asia-Pacific.
