University of California, IrvineAbout
Li-Sheng Tseng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), within the School of Physical Sciences. His research focuses on uncovering geometrical and topological data of manifolds, particularly through novel cohomologies of differential forms for analyzing symplectic manifolds, with applications in theoretical physics. He co-directs the UCI Math CEO program, recognized with the 2025 AMS Exemplary Program Award for promoting STEM education among underserved youth.
- Education: A.B. and A.M. in Physics from Harvard University (1997), Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Chicago (2003).
- Research Interests: Symplectic topology, geometry, mathematical physics, cohomology theories, and non-Kähler geometries.
His publications explore symplectic cohomologies, Hodge theory on symplectic manifolds, and applications in string theory. Notable works include studies on non-Kähler Calabi-Yau manifolds and SYZ mirror symmetry. He has held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Utah and Harvard University.
- Awards: 2025 AMS Award (Math CEO co-director).
- Teaching: Currently instructing Math 218C (Introduction to Manifolds and Geometry).
