Li Li is a Professor and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) at the University of Exeter. She oversees global strategy, partnerships, and international student recruitment. Previously, she held roles including Associate Dean of Global (ADG) in the College of Social Sciences and International Studies (SSIS). Her research focuses on language teacher cognition, social interaction, and technology in education. She leads international research networks like the THINK Network and Exeter-Fudan Global Thought Network. Key publications include Language Teacher Cognition: A Sociocultural Perspective (2020) and Thinking Skills and Creativity in Second Language Education (2019). She serves on editorial boards for journals like Thinking Skills and Creativity and has collaborated globally with institutions such as Tsinghua University and Jadavpur University. Supervised 26 PhDs and currently guides 11 doctoral students.
Education: PhD in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, MPhil in Second Language Education, BA in English Literature and Language Teaching, PCAP.
Research Interests: Integrates sociocultural theory and mixed methodologies. Recent projects include ESRC/MOST-funded studies on digital literacies and British Council-funded decolonizing curriculum work. Active in professional networks like the UK-China Humanities Alliance and British Association for Applied Linguistics.
