Li Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics with Statistics at the University of Gothenburg. He is also a Research Professor at Tongji University in Shanghai. His research focuses on market design and industrial organization, with a particular emphasis on matching markets and school choice mechanisms. Prior to his current position, he earned his PhD from Université libre de Bruxelles (ECARES) and holds degrees from KU Leuven and Fudan University.
His teaching areas include Advanced Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, and Matching Markets. He has received notable grants such as the F.R.E.S.H doctoral fellowship and the BRIC Travel Grant. His work has been presented at conferences including AMES Hong Kong, the UECE Lisbon Meetings, and the Conference on Economic Design.
Li Chen’s research integrates theoretical and empirical approaches to address issues in market design, including strategic behavior in school choice, personalized pricing, and environmental policy analysis. He co-organizes departmental seminars at the University of Gothenburg and has collaborated with institutions like the ECARES breakfast seminar series.
