Dr. Li Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences at Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia. She holds a PhD in Health Policy & Management from Beijing Normal University (2014) and a Bachelor's in Nursing (2009). Prior to joining Augusta University in 2017, she worked at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (2014–2017), focusing on health policy to improve healthcare affordability.
Her research spans molecular epidemiology, health economics, aging, cardiovascular diseases, and social determinants of health. Key areas include identifying early biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases, developing preventive strategies, and investigating the role of dietary components like leucine and vitamin D in health outcomes. She leads a funded project examining salt-induced blood pressure elevation mechanisms and gut microbiota interactions.
Dr. Chen has conducted cost-effectiveness analyses for breast cancer screening and HIV treatment strategies. Her work addresses healthcare access disparities and evaluates interventions to reduce health inequities.
