Leyuan Xu

Leyuan Xu is an Assistant Professor of Nephrology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on understanding kidney injury mechanisms, particularly the transition from acute to chronic kidney disease (AKI-to-CKD), immune-tubule interactions, and biomarker discovery. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University (2015), followed by postdoctoral training at Yale University (2019) and Virginia Commonwealth University (2016).

Research Interests: Dr. Xu investigates the role of myeloid cells and inflammatory pathways in kidney repair, biomarkers for kidney disease progression, and therapeutic interventions for renal fibrosis. His work combines translational studies using animal models and clinical datasets to bridge basic science and clinical applications.
