Lexi Lasczik is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University, Australia, where she also serves as Associate Dean (Education Partnerships) and Research Co-Leader of the Sustainability, Environment and the Arts in Education Research Cluster (SEAE). With over 40 years of experience in Visual Arts education, she is a distinguished academic, educator, and practicing artist committed to equity, social justice, and high-quality arts education.
Her research focuses on movement, displacement, climate change education, and arts-based educational research (ABER), particularly A/r/tography and walking inquiry. Lexi integrates creative practices—such as painting, drawing, photography, poetry, walking, and writing—into educational research and pedagogy, identifying herself as an ‘Artivist’. She is deeply engaged in innovative curriculum design and teacher education, with a focus on engaging at-risk youth through the arts.
Lexi’s recent scholarly work is exemplified by her leadership in the ARC Discovery Project titled Advancing Child and Youth-led Climate Change Education with Country, highlighting her commitment to child and youth agency in environmental learning.
